Floating Weeds
I first moved to New York in 2009; the American economic recession had taken hold, and after drifting back and forth between Boston and New York without a place to live for four months, I'd finally found my place in New York City. After months of hardship and occasionally sleeping on the street, I needed something delicate and nuanced to fixate upon.
These "Floating Weeds" drawings were a way for me to move my focus from the nebulous and desperate situation I found myself in to an appreciation of the beauty of nuance, which I felt I was rapidly losing.
